Exhibits Information

The Marin County Fair’s Competitive Exhibits program will look slightly different in 2024.

We are right sizing the program for the post pandemic world and temporarily reducing the scope of our adult categories. Instead, we are prioritizing our youngest fairgoers through programs designed especially for them and for their classrooms. Our hope is that these young people will become lifelong participants while learning new artforms and skill sets and experience the thrill of winning a ribbon at the fair.

The Competitive Exhibit categories that will continue in 2024 include the juried Fine Arts, Fine Photography and Fine Crafts show; Clothing and Textiles; Junior Hobby Arts; Art Chairs; Poetry; the in-person Plein Air competition; and special categories related to our Make a Splash theme. In the Barnyard and the Fur & Feathers tent, we will continue with the following competitions: Guinea Pigs, Horse Shows, Pocket Pets, Rabbits, Poultry Education* and Small Animals, and the Fair favorite Sheep Dog Trials.

*Due to Avian Influenza, there will be no chickens or other poultry at the Fair. For more info click HERE.

Additionally, the 2,000 seat Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium is still closed for construction and will remain so until Fall 2025 at the earliest. This closure means the Fine Arts, Fine Photography, and Fine Crafts exhibit will once again be displayed in the Exhibit Hall. And back by popular demand, the Marin Bonsai Club will be bringing in their exhibit which will be showcased in the Exhibit Hall adjacent to Fine Art.

As we rebuild our Fair team and our programming from the pandemic shutdown, we appreciate your flexibility and understanding. If you’re interested in helping us revive the program, we are seeking responsible volunteers to help with everything from answering questions about Competitive Exhibits to artwork receiving, judging, installation, onsite monitoring, and de-installation. You can register to be a volunteer HERE.
